How to import resources

INTRODUCTION

In this article we are going to explain how to upload a list of resources to Itcons.app. These resources can be materials, tasks, staff, vehicles, etc. In short, you can define a category and within this category you can host the list of resources you need so that when filling in the work report the user has access to the entire database.

There is the option of creating resources from an integration, but that is the subject of another article.

DOWNLOAD THE TEMPLATE

The first thing we have to do is to download the template. To do this, we will follow the steps below:

• Administration.
• Categories.
• The following screen will appear where you will have to select the import option (on the right of the screen).

• Once this step is completed, a screen appears where you have to select the download option (the file you have to fill in to import resources and categories).

FILL IN THE TEMPLATE

The Excel is downloaded in CSV format, that is to say, it comes separated by commas. The first thing to do is to separate the commas in columns and it has to look like this: first column (category) and second column (resource).

With the CSV in columns, in the first column we have to indicate the category in which we want to dump the resource and in the second column the name of the resource. Once finished, you have the Excel ready, save it in CSV format and return to your site at Itcons.app.

LOAD AND IMPORT CSV

In the same place where the CSV document is downloaded, you can import the categories and resources without renaming the file (categories.csv).

COMMON MISTAKES

1.- Add commas in the description, this confuses the program at the time of importing since it interprets it as a column break.

2.- To have the list separator defined in windows with another separator different from comma

3.- Do not save the CSV in UTF-8 encoding.

If not saved in UTF-8 encoding characters such as tilde will be dumped incorrectly.
